GameArchive Logo FACTOID:
The production version of Atari's Tempest was based on a re-occuring dream the designer was having where monsters were crawling out of a hole in the ground and he had to kill them before they reached the rim. (source D&M)

New Amplifone Replacement HV Units (FEBRUARY 08,2007 12:34 PM)
It has been a long time coming but there is now an affordable alternative to the vanishing Wintron HV unit. Mark Shostak at Cinelabs has designed an easy to install and stable replacement HV unit. They are being distributed by Arcadeshop and cost just over $100. Mark let me be a part of the Beta testing program and the unit ran cool and consitent on my Alpha 1 prototype game for a week straight. Thanks Mark!!
Internet Pinball Serial Number Database (JUNE 14,2006 06:46 PM)
I have finished a side project called The Internet Pinball Serial Number Database (IPSND) which is an attempt to resurrect the old Internet Pinball Project. Im not sure what will become of it but if you have any pinball machines in your possession, please register them so we can have a registry of all games parts or complete. Check it out.
Thunderball Preliminary Docs Added (FEBRUARY 23,2006 03:17 PM)
I received a copy of the Thunderball (Willliams Level 7) preliminary owners manual from Steve Winslow and have put it up in the Williams Documentation section. All you Thunderball owners are in luck now... all 10 of you! :-)
Williams Software Fixes (FEBRUARY 01,2006 12:34 PM)
It had always been a dream of mine to program at Williams Electronics since I was a kid, but now since they are out of business, Im not thinking that will happen anytime soon. So in trying to stay true to my dream, I am officially announcing that I will be taking requests to modify Williams Level 7 game code in order to fix bugs etc. I will make a web page later this month with the details but for now my first project is to finish my new Jungle Lord ROM set which will include more speech, better sounds and more lamp animation etc. Gameplay rules will not be changed. The next project will be to add background sound to Williams Defender pinball machine, a feature that is drastically missing. Details can be found at http://level7.askey.org
Speed Issues (JANUARY 20,2004 10:17 PM)
We have been experiencing problems with our router that is causing a download bandwidth issue. The site currently loads quite slowly and downloads may terminate before completing. I will be troublshooting the issue all next week so please be patient. If you need a file, drop me an email and I can send it to you via email. Thanks for your patience.
2,000,000 Vistors!!!! (JUNE 12,2003 05:17 PM)
GameArchive has been online for almost 6 years now and we have crossed another milestone. Thanks for all the support and we hope to keep enlarging the database of information we have!!
Wells-Gardner Troubleshooting Flowchart Added (JUNE 11,2003 11:57 PM)
Im not sure who made this (maybe Gregg?) but Steve from arcadeshop.com sent me a copy of this nice basic but comprehensive flowchart. It can be found on the XY Monitor Page.
New Parts & Repairs Section (JUNE 10,2003 10:05 PM)
I have added a "Parts & Repairs" section to the General area of the site. If you would like added to this page, just let us know.
GameArchive Downtime (JUNE 06,2003 08:14 AM)
Our ISP is upgrading to a T3 line on the first week of june so I expect some downtime although Im not sure how much or when. We should be up by Friday with a better bandwidth.
2 New User Polls (DECEMBER 09,2002 07:15 PM)
The user polls have gathered some pretty interesting statistics (for instance, you are just as likely to have 1 game as you are 15!!!). I added two new polls for people to vote for their favorite video game and pinball era's. All poll data can be accessed on the Poll Homepage. Keep voting!
Some Geometry Changes. (DECEMBER 09,2002 07:05 PM)
I removed the far right column as it seemed to crowed the screen to much and I didn't have much to stuff in there for now anyway. I think the 3 pane design is much nicer and will keep strange table width issues from creeping up.
Page+Text Color Problems Fixed (NOVEMBER 09,2002 11:21 PM)
There was a problem with both the Atari Vector Game Page and the Sega Vector page where the background colors where displaying as white and it made the colored fonts about impossible to read. This was from some sloppy PHP variable initialization... DOH!! Sorry. All should be good now.
Curtis Hart's Article Archive Back Online. (NOVEMBER 09,2002 01:05 AM)
The archive of news articles by Curtis Hart is back up on the site under the General -> Articles section. Curtis put lots of time in OCR'ing and scanning over 40 articles from 1980-1999 covering all sorts of interesting info on classic video games. Check it out.
Some Site Statistics (OCTOBER 29,2002 11:39 PM)
Our traffic monitoring module is up and running. Something interesting that you can see are the current number of people surfing the site which is located at the bottom of the left navigation pane. Also, we transferred over our old .cgi counter data into the new site. Instead of haveing individual hits for every page, we now will just track total visitor sessions. More stats are available on the stats page.
Flyer Archive Back Up! (OCTOBER 24,2002 10:14 PM)
The flyer archive is back up and avaiable on the new site. It had to be converted from the old perl scripts into the new PHP scripts and moved to the new format as well. As the vault is brought online, the flyer archive will go away and all flyers moved into the vault.
Bad Links From Search Engines (OCTOBER 24,2002 12:40 AM)
Because of the entirely new directory structure, many links from the search engines are now bad. I made the site 404 error page a bit more descriptive so hopefully people will be able to use the left navigation bar to find the page they came here looking for. I have submitted update requests from the major search engines so hopefully the old broken links will slowly dissapear over time.
More Repairs and Better Direction (OCTOBER 24,2002 12:29 AM)
Fixed a few more path issues for some of the random image generators. Im working on getting the flyer archive back online as well. It needs the old cgi code pitched out and replaced with PHP which will take an evening.
CGI Scripts Repaired (OCTOBER 22,2002 08:40 PM)
It looks like all the cgi scripts were down for the last few hours as I had a ScriptAlias set wrong in Apache. This effected the Capcom ROM downloads and the Amplifone HV registry
Webalizer Stats Transferred (OCTOBER 22,2002 12:32 AM)
We just finished transferring all the old webalizer site access statistics over from the old server. The webalizer data is a small part of the total access statistics that we plan on implementing over time. Site Statistics are available by clicking the stats link in the top header.
Site Testing (OCTOBER 21,2002 07:41 PM)
The new site will be randomly going live and switching back to the old site for live testing and to see how the server handles load over the next full week. If all goes well, the new site site will stay live and some newer features may even start appearing. Please bear with us while we test everything out.
We Need Feedback! (OCTOBER 18,2002 10:25 AM)
As the new site starts to take shape, feel free to contact us
Building The Vault (OCTOBER 15,2002 03:34 PM)
The Vault will be one of the first items to go live on the new site. The table structure design is done and I will be working on making interface templates over the next few weeks. At first, The Vault will not allow uploads while we transfer all our local files into it and prepare for the large task of allowing public uploads.
New Registrations Disabled. (OCTOBER 12,2002 11:02 PM)
Until we get some of the data driven sections of the site up and running, The new registrations page will be disabled. I plan on having a user forum set up first at which time I will enable new registrations. Thanks for the patience!
